Alarm monitoring console

We develop & commercialize the RIVOPS technology. This process & control console presents the alarms to the operator following the OPC AE/DA standard. The product uses the cockpit view (presented below) which gives this extra point of view (RIVOPS screen in the center), to a straight-forward visual understanding of ongoing operations.

The core of our technology is a smart combination of software & hardware components designed to reduce the amount of alarms pushed inside the control room. RIVOPS consoles significantly enhances the awareness of the operator using a set of intelligent behaviours to automatically recognize fault scenarios.

In the event of an emergency situation, the control room will be flooded by an excessive amount of data. Alarms will be triggered one after another requiring immediate attention from the operator. At this crucial stage, any possible help is required to support the operator and get back to a nominal climax. RIVOPS consoles are designed to actively counter-balance this increasing alarm-rate by compacting those alarms according to a list of known scenarios. Alarm patterns or scenarios are identified using the aggregation of historical data. Our alarm overview panel technology complies with the international directive on alarm shelving and alarm grouping (ISA 18.2, EMUA 191).

Why get equipped with RIVOPS consoles?

Improve safety. Comply with the international guidelines ISA18.2. Avoiding a single downtime due to an alarm overflow is enough to justify the use of the RIVOPS console.

This piece of equipment will enable you to make the right decisions at the right time. Unlike the abstract & very often misleading control panels, the RIVOPS console makes use of 3D SCADA technology to display an alarm overview. When things go wrong, you will see it faster than if you had to browse your process tabs.

Let us work with you in the early design phase of your safety control system (SAS) and we will teach you how to define the cause & effect tables into excel and automatically export them into your PLC code.

Grouping Algorithms & Deployment

Define the alarm groups at the lowest level of the control system, directly inside the Process & Logic Controller (PLC).

The alarm grouping mechanisms are contained inside a function block (FB) which is downloaded on the PLC. At this level, the grouping logic becomes available to all the above layers of the control system (OPC Servers, HMIs, data historians, etc…)

We have cut-down the implementation cost by scripting the entire programming phase. The alarm grouping function for your PLC is really one click away.

Keeping development costs down

In order to implement the additional alarm recognition logic (above) , EATOPS developed AutoGen, an automatic code generator.

The PLC logic is automatically generated from an equipment list. This approach has a dual positive impact on the project: it reduces the hours spent on programming but also prevents all sorts of inconsistencies often introduced inside the PLC source-code with manual coding. RIVOPS, a new alarm page for the operator

At Ergonomics applied to Operations – EATOPS, we believe that the slightest functionality can make the difference during a crisis scenario. Our consoles are equipped with a dynamic alarm summary displayed on stylus-driven tablet. Located right below the alarm list, this new type of display also called 3D SCADA, provides an intelligent summary of the alarm situation on-board.

OPC Connectivity

RIVOPS systems plug into the Distributed Control System (DCS) via a standard OPC driver (DA, AE, HDA, UA). The system is fully integrated as part of the Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) and uses a redundant architecture to prevent any interruption of the alarm management. The RIVOPS console software and hardware specifications are detailed in the two following documents:
